English Fans Celebrate Red Roses’ World Cup Triumph

English fans braved the rain at Battersea Power Station to celebrate the Red Roses’ victory in the Rugby World Cup. The vibrant atmosphere, adorned with flags and cowboy hats, was complemented by music, creating a festive environment as the team made their triumphant balcony appearance. Despite the unfavorable weather conditions, the spirits of the attendees did not fall. Many arrived with their faces painted and waving flags, while the music of a DJ and a performance by the band Fat Brass cheered the expectant crowd, many of them sheltered under umbrellas, before the arrival of the team. The England players reveled in the jubilant atmosphere that followed their 33-13 victory over Canada in the World Cup final on Saturday at Allianz Stadium, a match witnessed by a record crowd of 81,885 people. Among the famous attendees in Battersea were English footballer Lucy Bronze, a two-time winner of the European Championship with the Lionesses, and Dame Kelly Holmes, who won double gold in athletics for Great Britain at the 2004 Olympic Games.
England captain Zoe Aldcroft led her team onto the balcony, all with medals around their necks and some opting for sunglasses, possibly to hide the tiredness from the previous night’s celebrations. Hannah Botterman wore a red cowboy hat and a couple of energy drinks.

We’ve been on a journey for three years. We’ve worked hard, we’ve had fun along the way, but I’m so proud of all the girls here today, they are absolutely incredible.

Aldcroft added: “The most important thing is our culture. We are very close as a team and have many fun experiences. We have enjoyed this time together and that unites us on the field.”
Aldcroft also commented: “We’re talking about redefining the women’s game. It’s not just about winning the final, but about inspiring the next generation to pick up a rugby ball and play at their local clubs, that has been very important for us.” Addressing the crowd before another trophy presentation, Aldcroft expressed: “Thank you very much for the support from the start of the tournament in Sunderland to here at Twickenham for the final. It’s been incredible.” England head coach John Mitchell paid tribute to his players, who approached the fans, signing autographs and posing for selfies. Mitchell said: “They are great and it’s incredible to work with them every day. Once they understand what is required, they take it on.” With an eye on what’s next for the Red Roses, who boast a record of 33 consecutive wins, Mitchell added: “I’m looking forward to celebrating this a little more, the beer fridge looks really good. Then we’ll get to Christmas, let the girls go back to their clubs, give them a break. Afterwards, in January, we’ll talk to see what everyone’s goals are and then we’ll move on to the Six Nations.”
