Red Bull Expands its Sporting Empire: Acquires the Newcastle Red Bulls
The energy drink giant, Red Bull, continues to consolidate its presence in the world of sports. Recently, the company announced the complete acquisition of the first division rugby team, the Newcastle Falcons. The agreement, finalized on Tuesday, marks a significant milestone in Red Bull’s sports expansion strategy. As part of this new stage, the club has been renamed Newcastle Red Bulls. This name change will take effect before the start of next season, scheduled for the following month. The initiative seeks to implement “the innovative approach that Red Bull has applied to its sports projects around the world”. Red Bull already has stakes in several football teams, including RB Leipzig, RB Salzburg, and Leeds, in addition to a Formula 1 team. Former Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp was recently appointed as Red Bull’s global head of football. The Newcastle team has achieved five major titles throughout its history, highlighting the league championship obtained in 1998.
