Farrell Warns of a Wounded Australia After Lions Victory

Andy Farrell, coach of the British and Irish Lions, shows caution towards an Australian selection wounded after the Lions’ 27-19 victory in Brisbane on Saturday. The tourists dominated much of the match, especially in the first half, although the Wallabies scored two late tries that brought the score closer. With the starting XV on the field, led by Jamison Gibson-Park and Finn Russell, the Lions controlled the game.

However, with the series on the line, Farrell is aware that Australia will give it their all and improve in Melbourne in a week.

Not only is it the second match of the season for Australia and they will be much better for it, but also because of what it means to them and how proud they are, it will mean the world to them.

Farrell added that his team must prepare to face an Australia at its best.

We need to make sure we’re ready for them to be at 100% in their best form. I suppose a better performance will be needed than what we showed today to make sure we also get a win next week.

Farrell also warned his team that they cannot afford to slow down as they did at the end of the match.

That shouldn’t happen and we talked about it. We talked about being focused on the next moment all the time and that certainly shouldn’t happen. We certainly need to address that as well.
