South Africa’s second row, Eben Etzebeth, has been suspended for 12 weeks following the incident in the match against Wales last Saturday. The sanction, determined by the Disciplinary Committee, is at the lower end of the possible penalties, reducing the initial suspension of 18 weeks. The match, which ended with a resounding victory for South Africa over Wales (73-0), was marred by Etzebeth’s expulsion in the last minute due to an incident with Alex Mann.

Rassie Erasmus
Coach Rassie Erasmus commented that the red card was justified and that it was not the way the team wanted to conclude the match, acknowledging that the situation did not project a good image.
