RALEIGH, N.C. – Florida Panthers forward Sam Reinhart left Thursday night’s Eastern Conference final game against the Carolina Hurricanes with a lower-body injury and will not return.

Reinhart suffered a hit at the end of the first period when he was hit by Carolina’s Sebastian Aho while Reinhart was carrying the puck towards the offensive zone. Aho hit Reinhart near the left knee, with his leg bending in an awkward way.

Reinhart returned to the bench and showed gestures of pain before heading to the locker room.

Reinhart’s injury occurred when the reigning Stanley Cup champions, the Panthers, had taken a 3-0 lead in the first period in Game 2, after winning the first game of the series on Tuesday with a score of 5-2.
