Giacomin, a Hall of Fame member, was an emblematic figure for over a decade with the Rangers, from 1965 to 1976, and later played in Detroit. His number 1 is retired at Madison Square Garden. During his distinguished career, Giacomin was awarded the Vezina Trophy as the league’s best goaltender and was selected five times for the All-Star.

“You can’t talk about the history of this organization without immediately thinking of Eddie,” the Rangers highlighted in a statement.
