The Washington Capitals forward, Brandon Duhaime, was fined $2,500 for unsportsmanlike conduct.The incident occurred during the game against the Seattle Kraken, where Duhaime touched Jacob Melanson while the latter was on the bench.The NHL’s Player Safety Department announced the sanction on Wednesday. This department, led by George Parros, now oversees all disciplinary decisions on the ice.The contact between Duhaime and Melanson occurred with just over seven minutes remaining in the second period of Tuesday night’s game. Melanson grabbed his right arm and immediately left the ice, but continued playing. No penalty was called at the time.Duhaime started a fight with Melanson with just over a minute left in the game, which the Capitals lost 5-1, and received an additional minor penalty for rough play.Duhaime, 28, is an unrestricted free agent and could be traded before the March 6 deadline if Washington decides to sell.
