Mark Stone Leaves Game 3 with Injury
Vegas Golden Knights captain Mark Stone left Game 3 of the Stanley Cup playoffs against the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday night.
Stone, did not play the last six minutes of the first period and did not return to the game after the first intermission. The team announced midway through the second period that Stone would miss the rest of the game.
In one of his last shifts, Stone lost his balance while trying to make a sharp turn while playing with the puck and fell. Edmonton’s Corey Perry, unintentionally, skated towards him. It seems that Perry’s skate hit Stone’s hand or his leg hit his arm.
Stone had accumulated four goals and four assists in the eight playoff games this year. Edmonton had a 2-0 lead in this Western Conference semifinal series at the start of Saturday.
Vegas was also without forward Brandon Saad due to a lower-body injury suffered in Game 2.
Stone, who turns 33 on Tuesday, was second on the team in the regular season with 67 points, including 19 goals, in 66 games. He has 231 goals and 403 assists in 706 regular season games since the 2012-13 season. He has been with Vegas since the 2018-19 season, including the Stanley Cup championship in 2023.
Vegas recovered from a quick 2-0 deficit in the first period on Saturday night and took a 3-2 lead in the second intermission.
