Darren Waller Comes Out of Retirement to Play for the Dolphins

Tight end Darren Waller has decided to come out of retirement to join the Miami Dolphins, reinforcing the position that became vacant after Jonnu Smith’s trade to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Dolphins have finalized an agreement with the New York Giants, who held Waller’s rights. In exchange for a conditional sixth-round pick in 2026, Miami will receive a seventh-round pick in 2027. According to sources close to the matter, Waller has agreed to a one-year contract with the Dolphins, with a value that could reach 5 million dollars. Waller, 32, had announced his retirement last June, explaining that a health problem experienced in November 2023 led him to re-evaluate his life.
