When asked about Nwosu’s readiness, Macdonald hinted that he might be out until Week 1. Nwosu, 28, has been affected by injuries, including a pectoral tear in 2023, as well as a medial collateral ligament sprain and a severe quad strain in 2024. These injuries have limited him to six games in each of the last two seasons. This occurred after he recorded a career-high 9.5 sacks in 2022, the year he arrived in Seattle as a free agent from the Los Angeles Chargers. Nwosu underwent knee surgery shortly after last season ended, and the team has maintained a reserved stance on when he will be ready to play. He agreed to a modification of his contract earlier in the offseason that reduced his 2025 compensation by nearly $7 million. The Seahawks signed veteran defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence in March and are believed to still be looking for an edge defender, given Nwosu’s situation for the start of the season. Macdonald also revealed on Wednesday that veteran nose tackle Johnathan Hankins begins camp on the non-football injury list due to a back issue. We’ll see. We’re entering the season probably throughout the rest of the field and then we’ll see, but I think we’ll stick to the schedule for now. But we’re not necessarily close right now.

Running back Ken Walker III, who was limited during spring practices due to an ankle injury, practiced on Wednesday without apparent restrictions. In the long run, I think he’ll be fine. But he’s working on it. Hank is a veteran. He’s a 12-year player. We’re taking our time with it, so we’re not in a rush.

It looks great. He’s in a great place mentally. It’s incredible to see him do all the things we want him to do from the start. I know he’s very excited about what’s happening. Great first day with Ken.
