Ravens: Madubuike out for the rest of the season

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Baltimore Ravens are facing an uncertain outlook, with several key injuries that could affect their performance in the upcoming games. The most concerning situation is that of Nnamdi Madubuike, the team’s star defensive tackle, who will be out for the rest of the season due to a neck injury. Madubuike, 27, experienced symptoms after the Ravens’ victory over the Browns on September 14 and was placed on the injured reserve list on Saturday. This absence represents a hard blow for the Ravens’ defense, which has allowed the most points per game in the NFL this season, averaging 33.3.

I really can’t speak for him. Those are questions he’ll answer better in the future, and he may still be getting information about that as well.

John Harbaugh, Ravens coach
Madubuike, who has been a Pro Bowl player in the last two seasons, is in the second year of a four-year, $98 million contract, with $75.5 million guaranteed. Given Madubuike’s absence, the Ravens could consider adding another defensive tackle.

I mean, it’s always something that would be on the table, for sure.

In addition to Madubuike, coach John Harbaugh provided no update on the situation of Lamar Jackson, who suffered a hamstring injury during Sunday’s loss to the Chiefs and left the game midway through the third quarter. In addition to Jackson, other players who suffered injuries on Sunday were cornerbacks Nate Wiggins (elbow) and Marlon Humphrey (calf), middle linebacker Roquan Smith (hamstring), and offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley (ankle). Harbaugh refrained from making detailed comments about these injuries, indicating that more details will be given later in the week. When Jackson left the game in the third quarter, the Ravens were losing 27-13. Harbaugh explained that the 14-point margin did not influence the decision to take Jackson out of the game.

There was no way he was going back in the game. The injury prevented it during the game. I know Lamar. If he could have gone back in the game, he would have been in the game. That’s him. But I assure you he couldn’t have gone back in the game under any circumstances.

Jackson hasn’t missed a game since he was out for the final five weeks of the 2022 season due to a knee injury. The Ravens have performed poorly without Jackson, with a 4-10 record, including the playoffs, in the last six seasons he hasn’t started. If Jackson can’t play, Cooper Rush is expected to start on Sunday against the Texans. Rush has started 14 games.

Everyone knows what his game is, and he can play that game. So if he is out there, he will be oriented towards him. We have many important players around him if he is playing.

Baltimore records a 1-3 record for the first time in 10 seasons.
