Significant Losses for the Raiders in the Match Against the Chiefs
Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers and tight end Brock Bowers will not be available for Sunday’s game against the Chiefs. This situation leaves Las Vegas without its two main passing targets, in an attempt to break a seven-game losing streak against AFC West rivals.
Meyers, initially in doubt, was seen on the field before the start, running routes and catching passes.
Bowers, for his part, practiced for the first time on Friday since October 1st. He has missed the last two weeks due to a posterior cruciate ligament injury and a bone contusion in his left knee, suffered in the Raiders’ season-opening victory against the Patriots.
Raiders coach Pete Carroll had hinted at the possibility of Bowers resting to have more recovery time before the bye week.
Carroll reported that Meyers was injured on a 16-yard reception in the final quarter of the 20-10 victory over the Titans last week.
In six games of the 2025 season, Meyers has accumulated 29 receptions for 329 yards. His numbers have decreased in recent weeks, with 33.7 yards per game in the last three games, after averaging 76 in the first three.
The absence of Meyers opens the door for rookies Jack Bech and Dont’e Thornton Jr. to have a more important role in the offense.
Tre Tucker, a receiver in his third year, is also emerging as a focal point in the passing game. He’s on track to have his best season, with 24 receptions for 356 yards and four touchdowns, tied for seventh in the NFL.
With Bowers out for the third consecutive week, Michael Mayer will once again be the Raiders’ primary tight end. Mayer had five receptions for 50 yards and a touchdown against Tennessee, his first game after missing two in a row with a concussion.
