Broncos’ Dre Greenlaw Serves Suspension After Appeal

Denver Broncos linebacker Dre Greenlaw will have to serve his one-game suspension for unsportsmanlike conduct. The league confirmed this Tuesday that the appeal filed was unsuccessful, so the original sanction is maintained. Greenlaw will miss the next home game against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. The NFL reported on Monday that Greenlaw “chased referee Brad Allen and verbally threatened him while attempting to leave the field” after the Broncos’ victory against the New York Giants in Denver.
The suspension will cost Greenlaw, who will also have to miss the Broncos’ training sessions this week, a game check for $192,778. The game on Sunday marked Greenlaw’s debut with Denver, after signing a three-year, $31.5 million contract in March. He did not play in the preseason or in the first six games of the regular season due to hamstring injuries. Against the Giants, Greenlaw participated in 21 plays and finished with six tackles and one hit on the quarterback, while the Broncos overcame a 19-0 deficit in the final quarter to win 33-32 and improve their record to 5-2.
