EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Tuesday was a significant day for the New York Giants, with the return to training of key figures. Star receiver Malik Nabers and left tackle Andrew Thomas returned to action, marking a significant moment for the team. Also joining them was rookie running back Cam Skattebo, who recovered from a hamstring injury.

The Return of the Stars

Nabers, after overcoming a back problem, participated in individual exercises, showing good form before focusing on specific work. The team has handled his return with caution, suggesting that he will be ready for the start of the season. Skattebo, for his part, joined the team’s training. Thomas, who underwent Lisfranc surgery last year, has been removed from the physically unable to perform list. His presence on the field just weeks before the start of the season increases the chances that he will be ready for the matchup against the Commanders on September 6. On his first day back, Thomas did individual exercises, focusing on his recovery. Although he did not participate in all activities, his return was a positive step.

It feels great. It’s been a long time. I’m grateful to be back out there. I know I’m not completely back practicing with everyone, but doing some [individual drills] felt good.

Andrew Thomas
Thomas acknowledged that recovering from his injury has not been easy.

It’s a tough injury to overcome for big players.

Andrew Thomas
The availability of Nabers and Thomas is vital for the Giants. Thomas, in particular, is a key player for the team, which has struggled without him on the field.

Today was the day we planned to work to bring him back.

Brian Daboll, Giants Coach
They are unlikely to participate in the preseason games. The Giants will play against the Patriots on Thursday night, and it seems unlikely that Nabers and Thomas will play, given that Tuesday was their last practice before the game and their participation was limited.
