Coach Nick Sirianni backed offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo on Friday, confirming that there will be no changes in play-callers, despite another disappointing performance by the team that contributed to the Philadelphia Eagles’ 24-15 home loss to the Chicago Bears.
Sirianni added that the team’s evaluation goes beyond a single person, highlighting the importance of teamwork in both victory and defeat. The coach expressed his confidence in the entire group and stated that he does not believe that the offensive problems are the sole responsibility of Patullo. Despite having an offense with the highest salaries in the NFL, including stars like Saquon Barkley, A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia ranked 24th in yards per game (303.6), 23rd in passing (193.2), 21st in rushing (110.5), and 18th in points (23.2) before the game. The performance has been especially low in the last four games, averaging 15.5 points, resulting in two consecutive losses and an 8-4 record. Patullo was promoted to offensive coordinator this offseason, replacing Kellen Moore, now head coach of the New Orleans Saints. We are not going to change the play caller. But we will evaluate everything.

On Friday, the Eagles ran only 51 plays compared to the Bears’ 85, and they struggled on third downs (4 of 12) against a Chicago defense that ranked 27th before Week 13.
Barkley recorded 13 carries for 56 yards, marking the ninth time this season that the NFL Offensive Player of the Year was limited to 60 rushing yards or less.Hurts completed 19 of 34 passes for 231 yards, with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception, as well as losing a fumble on a “tush push” attempt. It was his first game with multiple turnovers since Week 10 of 2024. The Philadelphia defense allowed 281 rushing yards, with Kyle Monangai and D’Andre Swift becoming the first Chicago running back duo to each surpass 100 rushing yards in the same game since Walter Payton and Matt Suhey in 1985. With the lead in the NFC East over the Dallas Cowboys (6-5-1) shrinking, the Eagles will look to take advantage of the upcoming mini-break to find solutions and get the team, and the offense, back on track before next Monday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers. This game was strange, different, it felt weird out there. I think we have to do a better job of keeping the series going… That’s something we have to address and improve.
Saquon Barkley
We have to stay united. Stay committed to what the team is trying to achieve. In the end, nobody said it would be easy, and we have to embrace the challenge. We have to embrace this moment and respond in the right way.
