FRISCO, Texas – Dallas Cowboys defensive end Jadeveon Clowney announced this Friday his intention to challenge his arrest last week in Rock Hill, South Carolina.Clowney was arrested for trespassing and refusing to identify himself, both considered misdemeanors. The incident originated after a dispute in a parking lot with the police, at his aunt’s apartment complex.According to the police report, officers were preventing vehicles from parking in the complex due to an American football game being held nearby.The report indicates that Clowney never tried to leave the scene in his vehicle, but he did continue “arguing, interrupting the officer taking the report, and showing a defiant attitude”.Clowney was taken to jail and claimed to have been at the American football game during the second quarter.
“It was a parking situation that just escalated,” Clowney stated. “If you know anything about South Carolina, where I’m from, you know how quickly that can get out of hand, and that’s what happened.”
Jadeveon ClowneyClowney joined the Cowboys on Monday and has been practicing with the team this week. It is not yet certain whether he will play on Sunday against the Chicago Bears, although a team spokesperson assured that the incident will not influence the team’s decision on his participation.The Cowboys’ executive vice president, Stephen Jones, commented on Friday, during an appearance on 105.3 The Fan, that the team is leaning towards not playing Clowney in the game.Despite not having participated in the training camp, Clowney stated he was “physically ready to play. I just have to wait and see what the coaches want, decide, and see how they are going to use me.”
