Tatum doesn’t rule out return this season with Celtics: Recovery progresses

Less than a month before the start of the NBA season, Boston Celtics fans might be worried about Jayson Tatum’s absence. However, Tatum seems to be doing everything possible to speed up his return to the courts.

Tatum, recuperándose de una rotura del tendón de Aquiles en mayo, asistió a una práctica conjunta de los Patriots con los Washington Commanders en agosto sin una bota para caminar. No ha descartado un posible regreso para la próxima temporada.
After suffering a ruptured Achilles tendon in May, during the Eastern Conference semifinals, Tatum spoke about his prospects and how his injury could give Jaylen Brown a greater opportunity to lead.

The first thing is that I haven’t said I won’t play this season.

Normally, recovering from a torn Achilles tendon takes up a large part of a full season. The Celtics have documented Tatum’s recovery, showing him in videos at the gym on social media. In August, he attended a New York Patriots practice without the need for a walking boot or any kind of support.

The most important thing is a complete recovery. And I’m not in a hurry… at all. But I’m also not going to rehab six days a week for nothing.

Tatum has been in constant contact with other NBA players who suffered the same injury last season: Damian Lillard, Dejounte Murray, and Tyrese Haliburton.

We’ve all been in communication… Dejounte, Dame, Tyrese… we’re all at different points in our recovery. I write them all the time to ask what you can do and what you’re doing in your workouts. We’re all in the same boat, we just keep in touch.

The Celtics will start the season against the Philadelphia 76ers on October 22 in Boston.
