Tyrese Haliburton Misses the 2025-26 Season Due to Injury

The Indiana Pacers have confirmed the absence of their star, point guard Tyrese Haliburton, for the entire 2025-26 season. The absence is due to surgery to repair a rupture of the right Achilles tendon.

“I have no doubt that he will come back better than ever,” said Pacers president Kevin Pritchard, speaking to WISH-TV of Indiana. “The surgery went well. The recovery will be favorable. However, he will not play next year. We would not put that at risk now. So don’t get your hopes up that he’s going to play.”

Haliburton suffered the injury in the seventh game of the NBA Finals last month. The Oklahoma City Thunder won that game, securing their first title in franchise history. Without Haliburton, the Pacers were outscored 56-43 in the second half, leading to Oklahoma City’s victory with a score of 103-91. The two-time All-Star scored nine points, including three three-pointers, before leaving the game. During the NBA Finals, he averaged 14 points, 5.9 assists, and 4.6 rebounds. Haliburton, 25, averaged 18.6 points, 9.2 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.4 steals in 73 games (all as a starter) during the regular season, being selected for the All-NBA third team. In his career, Haliburton has averages of 17.5 points, 8.8 assists, and 3.7 rebounds in 333 games (294 as a starter) with the Sacramento Kings (2020-22) and the Pacers.
