Dante Exum Misses Entire Season with Knee Injury

Dallas Mavericks guard Dante Exum will not be able to participate in the full season due to complications in his right knee that will require a new surgery, the team announced on Thursday. The Mavericks re-signed Exum to a one-year, $3.3 million contract during the offseason, but he never received clearance to practice after a knee surgery in the summer. Exum, whose career has been affected by injuries, averaged 8.0 points and 2.8 assists in 75 games with Dallas in the previous two seasons. The Mavericks would need to cut Exum to create a vacant roster spot. However, Dallas would not be able to sign any player until January 6 because they are limited by the second apron of the salary cap.
