Karl-Anthony Towns Receives Treatment for Injuries Suffered in Playoffs

The New York Knicks center, Karl-Anthony Towns, has undergone treatment for a contusion in his left knee and to repair a ligament injury in his left finger. These injuries were sustained during the team’s recent participation in the playoffs. Towns suffered the finger injury in the third game of the second round against the Boston Celtics and the knee injury in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Indiana Pacers.

Despite the injuries, Towns scored at least 20 points in each game against the Pacers and achieved a double-double in five of those encounters.

After the Knicks’ season ended with a loss in the sixth game against the Pacers, Towns underwent new examinations of the injuries and decided to undergo immediate procedures to have as much recovery time as possible before next season.

Towns, who was traded to the Knicks from the Minnesota Timberwolves weeks before the regular season, had a successful transition to New York. He was one of only two players this season (along with Nikola Jokic) to average 20 points and 10 rebounds per game, with 40% effectiveness in 3-point shots. Towns was recognized with All-Star and All-NBA third team honors. The player is under contract for the next three seasons (with a player option for 2027-28) but is eligible to sign an extension during the offseason, which could add another two years to his contract.
