Michael Jordan, basketball legend and businessman, has made a generous donation of $10 million to a regional medical center in North Carolina.The gift, announced on Tuesday, is for Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington and honors the memory of his mother, Deloris Jordan.

A Legacy of Compassion and Care

With this significant contribution, the medical center will rename its neuroscience institute in honor of Deloris Jordan.

My mother taught me the importance of compassion and community, and I can’t think of a better way to honor her than by helping to ensure that those in need can get the most advanced neurological care available.

It focuses on improving access to specialists, technology, and quality medical care, especially for patients facing challenges related to strokes, spinal treatments, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and other neurological conditions.Deloris Jordan, founder and president of the James R. Jordan Foundation and its namesake international foundation, has led programs in the United States and Africa.The dedication ceremony will take place in early 2026 at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
