Luka Doncic reveals his physical and mental transformation

Luka Doncic, the Lakers star, has undergone a notable physical and mental transformation during the summer. The player has stated that he has taken a “big step” in improving his health and physical condition, claiming that “his whole body looks better” after two months of training in Croatia. Doncic, known for his exceptional play, has been the subject of criticism regarding his weight and physical condition throughout his NBA career. However, this summer, he has addressed those concerns with a rigorous regimen. The player and their team revealed that they have followed a gluten-free and low-sugar diet, which includes intermittent fasting and high levels of protein, at least 250 grams per day. This approach, combined with an intense training program, has yielded notable results.

Visually, I would say that my whole body looks better.

Doncic suffered a 2024-25 season marked by injuries, including a calf injury that limited him to a minimum of 50 combined games with the Mavericks and the Lakers, who were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. The 26-year-old player has two years remaining on his contract with Los Angeles, including a player option for the 2026-27 season. The Lakers can offer him a four-year, $222 million extension starting August 2nd. According to reports, Doncic contacted his representative one day after the Lakers’ elimination and reported that he wanted to start his training program immediately. The training included a month without basketball, according to physiotherapist Javier Barrio, who stated that Doncic did not resume shooting practice until June.

I think he sees the difference this summer and is very happy.

Doncic was inspired by figures like Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, who, according to him, “sacrificed a lot” in their off-season training. This year, with my team, I think we took a big step. But this is just the beginning, I need to keep going. I can’t stop.
