Celtics Halt Detroit Pistons’ Winning Streak

Jaylen Brown and Derrick White led the Boston Celtics to an exciting victory against the Detroit Pistons, ending the Pistons’ winning streak, which tied a franchise record of 13 consecutive games. The match, which ended with a score of 117-114 in favor of the Celtics, took place on Wednesday night, and saw the Pistons, leaders of the Eastern Conference, waste the opportunity to set a new record. Brown stood out with 33 points and 10 rebounds, while White contributed 27 points, including 11 crucial ones in the final minutes of the game, countering the outstanding performance of Cade Cunningham, who scored 42 points for the Pistons.

We understand it’s just a game, and we also understand that we didn’t play our best basketball. There were things we could have done better, and we still put ourselves in a position to have a chance at the end of the game. So you know, all these things add up. We are still learning, and hopefully, you know, we won’t be as good now as we are in April.

The game remained close until the end, with Cunningham being fouled near the middle of the court while attempting a three-pointer in the final moments. After the review, it was determined that he was in the act of shooting. Although he made the first two free throws, he missed the third. Payton Pritchard of Boston grabbed the rebound, was fouled, and made two free throws with 2.4 seconds remaining on the clock, sealing the victory for the Celtics. The Celtics secured the victory by stealing a pass before Detroit could attempt a three-pointer to tie the game.

We all wanted to win tonight, we all wanted 14 wins. I’m not going to act like it didn’t mean anything to us. It’s a big deal, we all wanted to be on that side of history, but it didn’t happen.

Pritchard contributed an additional 16 points to the Celtics’ victory, who achieved their fifth win in six games. On Monday, Detroit had equaled the team’s record for consecutive wins by defeating Indiana.
