Zambrano and Trauco Deny Sexual Abuse Allegations
Peruvian soccer players Carlos Zambrano and Miguel Trauco, both players for Alianza Lima, have categorically denied the sexual abuse accusations against them in Argentina. The athletes have assured that they are available to the authorities to collaborate in the investigations. The complaint was filed by a woman and made public by an Argentinian program. In it, Zambrano, Trauco, and Sergio Peña are accused of an alleged sexual assault that occurred in Montevideo, during the preseason of the blue and white club in Uruguay. The media exposure generated has caused deep damage on a personal and professional level. Through a statement, Carlos Zambrano expressed his rejection of any form of violence against women. The defender, who was a Boca Juniors player, also questioned the dissemination of versions he considers partial and inaccurate. Zambrano explained that he decided to remain silent until he formally knew the content of the complaint and assured that he will collaborate with the authorities. “I am calm about what happened and I trust that Justice will act objectively and in accordance with the law,” he added. Miguel Trauco, former Flamengo footballer, also spoke in similar terms. He expressed his confidence that the investigations will clarify the facts.
