The Dominican Republic added its fifth medal in the II Junior Pan American Games, thanks to the performance of Yorkis Carvajal Lerbours, who won the bronze in the 60-kilo Greco-Roman style division. In addition, the sprinter Liranyi Alonzo advanced to the final of the 200-meter dash, consolidating her position as a prominent figure in Dominican athletics. Carvajal demonstrated his worth by defeating the Peruvian Abel Sánchez with a score of 9-5 in the fight for the bronze, securing third place with an overall score of 3-1.
The Dominican wrestler had experienced an initial defeat against the Mexican Ángel Segura (1-3). With this achievement, the Dominican Republic wrestling delegation added one more medal to its account. In other notable results, Starlin Laguerre Laurens was defeated by Cuban Joenni Gómez (1-5) in the 77-kilo Greco category. José Núñez Encarnación lost the opportunity to obtain the bronze in the 130 kilos against Brazilian Wesley Barros. Athletics: Liranyi Alonzo shines in the qualifiers
Dominican sprinter Liranyi Alonzo impressed by achieving the best time in the 200-meter dash qualifiers, clocking a time of 23.33 seconds and securing her place in the final, scheduled for this Thursday at 6:10 p.m. (5:10 p.m. Dominican Republic time). Alonzo, who had already conquered the silver in the 100-meter dash, will seek to add another medal for the Dominican delegation.
