Wander Franco Case Failure: Puerto Plata Court to Issue Its Decision

Santo Domingo – The Collegiate Court of Puerto Plata will announce this Monday, at 2:30 in the afternoon, its verdict in the judicial case involving Dominican baseball player Wander Franco.

Franco is accused of alleged sexual abuse and exploitation of a minor. This case has captured attention both nationally and internationally, and now reaches its crucial stage after the presentation of evidence and arguments from both sides.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office has requested a five-year prison sentence for the player, stating that there is sufficient evidence to support the accusations. In addition, they have asked that the sentence be served in a penitentiary, highlighting the evidence presented against the mother of the involved teenager as well.

On the other hand, the defense of the shortstop, 25 years old, maintains his innocence and requests a full acquittal, arguing that there is not enough basis to establish criminal responsibility.

Franco’s legal and professional future remains uncertain pending the court’s decision. The baseball player was under administrative leave from Major League Baseball since the accusations arose, despite having a millionaire contract in MLB.
