Abner Uribe Apologizes After Brewers Game Controversy
Dominican pitcher Abner Uribe has publicly apologized to his teammates and the coaching staff of the Milwaukee Brewers, following an incident that generated controversy during the 6-0 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals. Uribe made obscene gestures towards the San Luis dugout after striking out Alec Burleson in the eighth inning, an action that was described as “unacceptable” by manager Pat Murphy. I owe an apology to the Brewers, my teammates, the manager, and all the coaches. Uribe admitted that he reacted incorrectly due to the emotional intensity of the moment. The pitcher also accused the Cardinals’ manager, Oliver Marmol, of signaling towards the Milwaukee dugout during the first game of the series, insinuating possible hit-by-pitches to Brewers players.Mármol avoided delving into the controversy and pointed out that Milwaukee handled the situation internally with speed. The incident also included a verbal exchange between Uribe and Panamanian catcher Iván Herrera, after a hit pitch on a 2-0 count.I don’t think it’s professional to make gestures towards our dugout saying they’re going to hit our guys.
