Tottenham Hotspur announces the departure of Ange Postecoglou
Tottenham Hotspur officially announced this Friday that Ange Postecoglou will not continue as the team’s coach for next season. The decision comes just two weeks after winning the Europa League in the final against Manchester United.
In an official statement, the North London club announced that, after an evaluation of performance and deep reflection, it has been decided to dispense with the services of the coach.
Postecoglou, who joined the ‘Spurs’ in 2023, received criticism during the season, especially for the performance in the Premier League, where the team finished in seventeenth position. Not even the European title won could secure his continuity.Tottenham, in its farewell message, acknowledges that Postecoglou revitalized the club’s characteristic attacking style of play and achieved victory in the Europa League, defeating Manchester United in the Bilbao final.
We are very grateful to Ange for his dedication and contribution during these two years at the club. Ange will always be remembered as only the third coach in our history to win a European trophy, alongside legendary figures like Bill Nicholson and Keith Burkinshaw.

Despite this, the club’s board has unanimously concluded that a change is best for the future of the institution.
The statement highlights that the team’s position in the Premier League this season has been the worst in its history in the competition, with only 78 points obtained in the last 66 matches.
Tottenham has not yet announced who the next coach will be, but has stated that only a “change of approach” will allow the team to compete on multiple fronts next season.
The club’s directors acknowledge that this has been “one of the most difficult decisions” made, but believe it is the most appropriate for the future, highlighting the “great platform” built by Postecoglou with a “talented and young” squad.
