TORONTO, Canada – The Toronto Blue Jays are facing a new setback due to injuries, after announcing the inclusion of outfielder George Springer on the 10-day injured list.

Springer, Down Due to Fracture

Springer suffered a fracture in the big toe of his left foot. The injury occurred on Saturday during the game against the Minnesota Twins, when a foul ball hit his foot in the third inning. Although Springer managed to complete his at-bat, he was replaced and underwent medical examinations that confirmed the fracture.

Eloy Jiménez Gets the Call

In response to this situation, the team has promoted Dominican Eloy Jiménez, who joins the Major League roster after his time with Triple-A Buffalo. Jiménez, 29 years old, brings experience in the Majors, having played with the Chicago White Sox and the Baltimore Orioles. He has a .269 average and a .780 OPS in more than 500 games. In the current season in the minor leagues, Jiménez recorded an OPS of .744, including a home run in 11 games. Jiménez is expected to debut with the Blue Jays as a designated hitter, batting seventh in the lineup against Minnesota.
