United States. The suspension of Cuban outfielder for the Los Angeles Angels, Jorge Soler, has been reduced from seven to four games. This modification went into effect on Wednesday, marking the beginning of the fulfillment of the punishment by the player.
Soler will be out of action until Sunday, coinciding with the end of the Angels’ series against the San Diego Padres.
The sanction was the result of an incident that occurred on April 7 at Angel Stadium, during a game against the Atlanta Braves. In this game, a fight broke out involving several players from both teams.
The conflict was triggered after Soler hit a home run against Dominican pitcher Reynaldo López in his first at-bat. Subsequently, Soler was hit by a pitch, which increased the tension. The situation escalated in the fifth inning, after a high pitch that provoked a verbal exchange, culminating in a physical confrontation.
Both players exchanged blows, which led to the emptying of the benches and a brawl on the field. Both Soler and López were ejected from the game.
López also saw his suspension reduced, from an initial to five games, after an agreement with MLB.
I asked him if everything was okay and I didn’t like the answer he gave me
The incident highlighted the rivalry that arose on the field between the two players, who were briefly teammates in the 2024 season with the Bravos.
