Santo Domingo – Juan Sandoval, pitching coach for the Gigantes del Cibao in the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM), has been appointed as assistant pitching coach for the Milwaukee Brewers in Major League Baseball. This news marks a significant milestone in his professional career. Sandoval, a recognized Dominican former pitcher, expressed his gratitude and excitement for this opportunity to work directly with Jim Henderson and manager Chris Hook. The coach highlighted the importance of this achievement for his career and for Dominican baseball.

First of all, thank you for the opportunity. Happy and grateful, both me and my family. The Giants were the ones who opened the door for me in 2022 when I was a bullpen coach, my first year as a coach. Now the work is coming, but I am very happy that I got that opportunity.

They seek personnel with growth potential, who master metrics and new trends. Having played professionally can be an advantage, but it is not an indispensable requirement.

Lidom as a Development Platform

Sandoval acknowledged that his experience with the Gigantes del Cibao has been fundamental in his professional growth. He highlighted the demands of the LIDOM and how it has prepared him to take on new challenges.

Lidom is demanding. There are many details, many meetings and many decisions that are not seen. Here I learned a lot. 100% this has prepared me; I think the organization took it into account.
