Salcedo FC Crowned LDF Champion in an Epic Final

Santiago – Salcedo FC has made history by winning the 2025-2026 season of the Dominican Republic Football League (LDF). The team won 3-2 on aggregate against Cibao FC in a final full of emotion celebrated at the PUCMM stadium in Santiago. In its first season as a professional club, Salcedo FC proved its worth by overcoming the pressure of one of the strongest teams in Dominican football, securing its first national championship. Cibao FC, after losing 2-0 in the first leg in Salcedo, was looking to come back. From the start, they took the offensive initiative, but goalkeeper Odalis Báez of Salcedo FC, was key to maintaining the tie in the first half. In the second half, Cibao FC intensified their attack. Javier Roces scored the first goal at minute 76, after a play by Jean Carlos López and Luis López. At minute 88, Rivaldo Correa scored the second goal, tying the series and unleashing the joy of Cibao fans. When the match seemed to be going into extra time, Daniel Flores, hero of the semifinal, scored the decisive goal for Salcedo FC, putting the global score at 3-2 in their favor and silencing the stadium. Despite the eight minutes of added time, Salcedo FC defended their lead until the end, securing a historic victory. With this triumph, Salcedo FC qualifies for the Concacaf Caribbean Cup 2026. Cibao FC already had their spot secured after winning the Copa LDF 2025. Atlético Pantoja will also be in the CFU Caribbean Shield 2026 as the winner of the regular season. The halftime entertainment was provided by El Prodigio, who cheered on the fans in attendance.
