Santo Domingo, R.D. – The Dominican Republic is preparing to be part of the Wings for Life World Run this Sunday, May 10th. This global event, which brings together thousands of participants simultaneously, aims to raise funds for spinal cord injury research.

The race in Dominican territory will start at 6:30 in the morning at the National Botanical Garden Dr. Rafael María Moscoso. Local runners will join participants from all over the world thanks to the Red Bull initiative.

The 2023 edition set a milestone by bringing together more than 310 thousand participants from 191 nationalities in more than 170 countries. 8.6 million euros were raised, which were entirely allocated to scientific research. This achievement makes the race one of the most important worldwide, both in the sports and social fields.

The event maintains its unique format, where there is no predefined goal. A “Catcher Car” begins to chase the runners 30 minutes after the start, marking the end of the course for each participant. This dynamic allows the participation of professional athletes, amateurs, and people in wheelchairs, competing on equal terms.

Interested parties have the option of participating in person or through the official application, connecting in real time with runners from all over the world.

This weekend, the invitation is to run with a purpose, for a cause that transcends sport and aims to change lives.
