Payano returns to Los Prados to lead TBS District 2025

Santo Domingo – Los Prados club has confirmed Carlos Payano, a Dominican-Puerto Rican coach, as their coach for the 49th Superior Basketball Tournament of the National District (TBS Distrito), which will begin in September. Payano will seek to improve the team’s performance, after a season in which Los Prados finished with a 3-7 record in the regular season. The main objective is to qualify for the semifinal round and fight for the championship. The top basketball team of the Los Prados club aims for its third title in the history of the TBS Distrito, after their victories in 1994 and 2005, under the direction of Fernando Teruel and Cándido Antonio Sibilio.

Both Teruel and Sibilio are Immortals of Dominican Republic’s Sport in the basketball discipline.

The presentation of Payano, who will have Amado Guillén as an assistant, took place at a press conference in the club Los Prados restaurant. The club president, Jorge Ramírez, was present, along with members of the management, sports authorities and prominent figures of Dominican basketball. During the event, President Jorge Ramírez highlighted the effort of the board and management to form a competitive team. Ramírez also announced a tribute to the 2005 Los Prados champion team, within the framework of the 2025 tournament. The team’s training will begin on August 23. Payano expressed his gratitude and commitment to do a good job.

The TBS District is the most important tournament, with the highest athletic level and competitive quality in the Dominican Republic.

The clubs San Lázaro, El Millón, Mauricio Báez, Huellas del Siglo, Rafael Barias, Bameso, San Carlos and Los Prados will participate in the tournament. The tournament is organized by the TBS District Organizing Committee and the National District Basketball Association (Abadina).
