Olympic Athletes Inspire at ITLA: Talk “Activate Your Olympic Spirit”

Santo Domingo, D.R. The Sports Club of the Technological Institute of the Americas (ITLA) hosted the talk “Activate Your Olympic Spirit”, a training event that brought together prominent Dominican athletes. The activity is part of the program “Sports Mentoring and Olympic Values”, an initiative of the Athletes Commission of the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD).

Participation of Featured Athletes

Among the athletes present were Luisito Pie, Camil Domínguez, Blanca Iris Alejo, Gina Mambrú, Cándida Arias and Katherine Rodríguez, who shared their experiences and knowledge with the students.

The COD Athletes Commission is the direct representation of Dominican athletes, promoting their rights and duties, and driving initiatives for high-performance and university athletes.

Luisito Pie, president of the Athletes Commission of the COD, highlighted that this meeting at ITLA is the first intervention of the Commission with university students. He emphasized the importance of sharing experiences to inspire new generations.

We chose ITLA for the human and educational quality of its young people. We talked about the three pillars of sport: excellence, respect, and friendship. If they manage to maintain these values, they can become successful professionals or high-performance athletes.

Gina Mambrú highlighted the choice of ITLA as a starting point for these talks on Olympic values, focusing on the pillars of sport: excellence, respect, and friendship.

The athletes shared their journeys and learnings:

  • Camil Domínguez, setter for the national volleyball team.
  • Blanca Iris Alejo, pioneer of Dominican table tennis.
  • Cándida Arias, outstanding middle blocker.
  • Katherine Rodríguez, Olympic taekwondo athlete and Pan American medalist.
Mtro. Rafael Félix García, rector of ITLA, valued the initiative, thanking the athletes for motivating the youth. The activity was organized by the Athletes Commission of the COD and the Co-curricular Division of the Student Welfare Department of ITLA, coordinated by Miguel Volquez and Raymundo Félix.
