Ohtani Shines in Dodgers’ Victory: Strikeout, Triple, and Home Run Lead
Los Angeles – Shohei Ohtani continues to prove his worth as the dual star of Major League Baseball. In the Los Angeles Dodgers’ 13-7 victory over the Washington Nationals, Ohtani made his mark significantly.
The Japanese player achieved his first strikeout as a pitcher wearing the Dodgers’ jersey. In addition, he had an outstanding offensive performance with five RBIs, including a bases-loaded triple and his 26th home run of the season.
Ohtani started the game by pitching a scoreless inning, striking out two and showing a notable improvement compared to his first outing. His fastball averaged 97.9 mph, reaching a maximum of 98.8 mph.
After his work on the mound, Ohtani returned to the plate as a designated hitter, demonstrating his ability to compete as a pitcher and hitter at the Major League level while continuing his recovery from elbow surgery. In the offensive, Ohtani shone with a three-run triple in the seventh inning and a solo home run in the eighth, which was initially ruled a double but later corrected after review. This hit allowed him to take the lead in home runs in the National League.
Max Muncy also had an outstanding performance, hitting two home runs, including a grand slam in the sixth inning that changed the course of the game, and finished with seven RBIs, tying his personal record.
Before the game, only one player in Dodgers history, Puerto Rican Enrique Hernández, had hit at least 10 home runs and pitched on more than one occasion in the same season. With this performance, Ohtani joins that select group.
With this triumph, the Dodgers close the series against Washington on a high note, and focus on what Ohtani can contribute both from the mound and with the bat.
