In the emblematic Tetelo Vargas stadium in San Pedro de Macorís, a memorable day took place for 160 young baseball prospects, aged between eight and ten years old. The activity, organized by the Dominican Baseball Federation (FEDOM) and the management of the Dominican team that will participate in the next World Baseball Classic, was supported by Major League Baseball (MLB). The event is part of an ambitious comprehensive development and training program for children and young people, seeking to sow the seeds of the future of Dominican baseball.

The clinic was attended by prominent figures from baseball. Nelson Cruz, general manager of the Dominican team, and Albert Pujols, manager of the Quisqueyan squad, led the activity along with the president of FEDOM, Juan Núñez. The day was filled with enthusiasm, teachings, and moments of deep emotion for the young participants. Among those present were former players of the stature of George Bell and Edwin Encarnación, along with active players such as Emilio Bonifacio, Bryant de la Cruz, Robinson Canó, Christopher Sánchez, Jarlín García and Joely Rodríguez. Also participating were José Canó, coach of the champion team of the 2013 World Classic, and Major League coaches Carlos Febles and Héctor Borg.A Special Moment: Fernando Tatis Jr.
A particularly emotional moment was experienced when the name of Fernando Tatis Jr. was mentioned, which unleashed a widespread ovation among the children. This gesture reflected the impact and admiration that these idols generate in the new generations of baseball players.Learning and Fun on the Field
During the clinic, the children participated in various work stations, where they learned the fundamentals of baseball. They received direct instruction on batting, fielding, pitching, base running, and discipline in the game, from the hands of baseball players and former players. Henry González, MLB’s Chief Operating Officer, valued the initiative as a source of pride for the country. This clinic in San Pedro de Macorís was the second of four similar days that will be held in different regions of the country. The next one is scheduled for Saturday 24th, in Santiago, at the Micalo Bermúdez stadium and then on Thursday 29th in Santo Domingo at the Quisqueya Stadium to finish with the commitment to positively impact Dominican children through baseball and values.On behalf of the Major League Baseball office, we are very happy with this activity and with the synergy we have created with the Dominican Baseball Federation.
