Men’s Caribbean Handball Cup Kicks Off with Excitement in Santo Domingo

This Monday, the recently renovated Table Tennis Pavilion of Parque del Este will be the venue for the Caribbean Men’s Handball Cup. This highly relevant sporting event will serve as a qualifier for the upcoming Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026. The Dominican Handball Federation (Fedobalom), under the presidency of Miguel Rivera, is the entity in charge of organizing this tournament which will run until Saturday, May 2nd.

Opening Matches

The opening day will begin at 3:00 p.m. with the match between Costa Rica and Cuba. At 5:00 p.m., Mexico will face Puerto Rico. The closing of the day will be in charge of the match between the Dominican Republic and Guatemala at 7:00 p.m.

Opening Ceremony and Upcoming Meetings

The official opening ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, April 28th at 6:30 p.m., after the matches between Cuba and Mexico, and Puerto Rico against Guatemala. That same day, the schedule will conclude with the match between Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic.

Importance of the Tournament

The Caribbean Cup will not only define those qualified for the Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, but will also serve as crucial preparation for the Dominican team, which will participate in the games scheduled from July 24 to August 8.

The participating countries will compete to secure their classification for the handball tournament of the regional event, which guarantees a high level of competition.
