Luis Alejandro Cifre is Crowned National Karting Champion
Young driver Luis Alejandro Cifre, only 14 years old, won the title of National Karting Champion in the Junior Max category this Sunday, solidifying his position as a prominent figure in Dominican motorsport.
The competition, organized by the Dominican Karting Runners Club (CDCK) and endorsed by the National Federation of Motor Racing (FDA), took place at the modern United Petroleum Karting Track, in Sierra Prieta. The day was full of excitement and a high level of competition.
Cifre demonstrated absolute dominance during the season, securing two consecutive pole positions and victories from start to finish. He led every lap and set the best times in the final races. This exceptional performance adds to an impressive streak of 24 consecutive podium finishes in the last four years, a remarkable achievement for a driver of his age.
His international projection has also been notable. In 2025, he participated in two European events, qualifying for all the finals and competing against the 28 best young kart racers in the world. In 2026, Cifre will represent the Dominican Republic in the prestigious FIA Academy Trophy, bringing the experience and competitive maturity that have made him a benchmark in national karting.
In addition to Cifre’s triumph, the day crowned the champions of the other categories:
- Sebastián Berroa, champion in Mini FDA, who also represented the country in the United States in 2025.
- Edder Herrera, champion in Senior Max, at only 16 years old and who defended the colors of the Dominican flag in Malaysia during 2025.
- Manuel González, champion in Vortex VLR and Tillotson T4.
- Ethan Pichardo, champion in Kid Kart.
With this last date, the CDCK closes a successful year with six events held in Sierra Prieta, where the public enjoyed a family atmosphere and free access, consolidating karting as a growing discipline with promising talents.
