LNB 2026: Nine teams begin the fight for the Banreservas Cup this Tuesday

The LNB 2026 Kicks Off!

Santo Domingo – The 2026 season of the National Basketball League (LNB) begins this Tuesday, promising fierce competition and an unmissable spectacle for fans. Nine teams will fight for the coveted Banreservas Cup, marking the start of an exciting campaign.

Opening Matches

The current champions, the Southern Titans, will seek their third championship, facing the Santiago Metros at 8:30 p.m. at the San Cristóbal Sports Center. The other match of the opening day will feature the debutants Moca Heroes, who will host the Puerto Plata Mariners at 8:00 p.m. at the Moca 85 Sports Center.

Participating Teams

The incorporation of the Moca Heroes raises the number of participating franchises to nine. The teams that complete the circuit are: Reales de La Vega, Gigantes Basketball Club, Cañeros del Este, Leones de Santo Domingo and Soles del Este.

Stars in Action

The season will feature the participation of outstanding players such as Luismal Ferreiras (Gigantes), Gerardo Suero (Leones), Eloy Vargas (Héroes), Jonathan Bello (Soles), Luis Feliz (Marineros), Eusebio Suero (Cañeros), Jordan Gerónimo (Metros) and Anderson Mirambeaux (Reales). The incorporation of figures such as Richard Bautista and Jassel Pérez, from the Titanes, is expected in later stages.

Collaboration with Lápiz Consciente

The LNB maintains its alliance with the artist Lápiz Conciente and his brand OiO Clothing. This collaboration, which has already proven successful, will include the official jingle, City Connect uniforms, digital content, and on-court activations.

Tournament Format

Each team will play 14 games in the regular season, which will run until May 27. The top six will advance to the elimination phase, where they will play an additional 10 matches, carrying over their record. The top four will qualify for the semifinals, which will be played in a best-of-five series. The grand final will be decided in a best-of-seven series.
