San Diego State University Students Visit Licey Athletic Club
Santo Domingo – The Athletic Club Licey opened its doors this Wednesday to students from San Diego State University, who had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich history and structure of the iconic blue team. The visit included informative talks by key figures from the club. Fernando Ravelo Jana, former general manager and current commentator, along with Fabio Herrera, director of baseball operations, shared their knowledge on various aspects of the most decorated team in the history of Dominican baseball. More than 30 students from the Master’s in Sports Management, along with professors and facilitators, participated in the activity. The central themes addressed included sponsorships, memorabilia, agreements with players, and the limitations of the Winter League Agreement. Ravelo also delved into special events such as the Caribbean Series, the Titans Series in New York, events with Caribbean teams, and Licey’s altruistic initiatives. Herrera, for his part, addressed issues related to management, sports culture, baseball operations, drafts, and historical rivalries.The visit also included a tour of the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium facilities, the trophy room, and other key areas of the team’s headquarters. The event organization was in charge of Cynthia Morillo, director of public relations, with the support of Rosmeilys Mejía, Guaroa Ramírez, and Ignacio Guerra. The Club Atlético Licey reaffirms its commitment to national and international institutions, promoting sport as a tool to build a society based on values and sports culture.Both experts led a question and answer session, where students expressed their concerns about the organization, the competitive dynamics, and player development.
