SAN PEDRO DE MACORÍS – An explosive five-run rally in the fifth inning propelled the Leones del Escogido to a 6-4 victory over the Estrellas Orientales early this Saturday at the Tetelo Vargas stadium, thus achieving their second consecutive win against the petromacorisanos. The game, which began with a one-hour and ten-minute delay due to rain, saw the Stars take the lead in the second inning with a solo home run by Rodolfo Durán.

El Escogido tied the score in the fourth inning. Consecutive hits by Gio Urshela and Yamaico Navarro set the stage for a groundout by Sócrates Brito to drive Urshela to third, from where he scored on a single by Jorge Mateo. The red comeback came in the fifth inning, loading the bases with no outs. A sacrifice fly by Urshela produced the first run of the rally. Then, Navarro hit a double to drive in two runs, and Jasson Domínguez added another double to bring in the fifth. Las Estrellas scored with two annotations in the bottom of the fifth inning and added another in the ninth. Closer Luis Guerrero came in to complete the job and achieved the save by striking out Durán. The victory went to Rolddy Muñoz, who struck out two in one inning.
