The historic qualification of the New York Knicks to the NBA Finals has unleashed an unprecedented fever in the ticket market, setting record prices that exceed any expectation.

Unprecedented Prices at Madison Square Garden

According to data from the TickPick platform, the third game of the 2026 NBA Finals, which will be played at Madison Square Garden, is already showing astonishing figures in resale. On platforms like StubHub, the most economical tickets are priced around $3,500, while the most coveted seats, located courtside, exceed $100,000. The anticipation in the city is palpable, as the Knicks return to an NBA final for the first time since 1999. The team is seeking its first championship since 1973, ending a drought of more than five decades. Even tickets for a possible sixth game in New York, where the championship could be decided, start at about $4,600. The Knicks’ rival is not yet defined, as the Western Conference final is still open, with the Oklahoma City Thunder leading 3-2 over the San Antonio Spurs.

Price Contrast in the Western Conference

The prices at the Western Conference venues contrast sharply with those in New York. On Ticketmaster, the cheapest tickets for the sixth game in San Antonio are sold from $185. A possible seventh game in Oklahoma City slightly exceeds $400. The Knicks reach the Finals after a dominant postseason, accumulating 11 consecutive victories against Atlanta, Philadelphia, and Cleveland, and recording an impressive point differential of +262 points. TickPick noted that with just over $3,000, a fan could purchase tickets for all seven complete games of the 2025 NBA Finals. A figure that now isn’t enough for a single ticket at Madison Square Garden during this 2026 edition.
