Innovation in Spanish Football: RefCam Arrives in LaLiga
A new era of transparency and closeness is coming in Spanish football. The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and LaLiga have agreed to implement an innovative technology called RefCam, which will offer fans an unprecedented perspective of the game. This initiative will debut in the final this Saturday at the La Cartuja stadium in Seville and will extend to the league competition matches from the 22nd of this month, according to both entities in a statement. The RefCam is a device that captures the referee’s direct view during the match, including audio. This will allow fans to better understand refereeing decisions and enjoy a more immersive experience. The camera, which will be in charge of referee Alberola Rojas, will provide the television signal produced by RTVE with a closer and more innovative perspective of the game. This technology will initially be implemented in one LaLiga match per matchday, starting next week, with the aim of improving the audiovisual experience of football. The matches in which the referee’s camera will be used have already been defined, including Betis-Real Madrid (matchday 32), Barcelona-Celta de Vigo (matchday 33), Valencia-Atlético de Madrid (matchday 34) and Barcelona-Real Madrid (matchday 35).“…contributes to a greater understanding of arbitration decisions and provides a new level of transparency and closeness with the fan…”
