Kerr Focuses on Defense After Warriors’ Loss
Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr, after Saturday’s loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, acknowledged that Stephen Curry’s absence forces the team to focus on defense to advance in the Western Conference semifinals. The Warriors, currently with a 1-2 score in the series, are looking for strategies to counter the Timberwolves.
I think if we’re going to win the series, it’ll be with defense. We’re not going to beat them in a skills contest: we have to stop them to win the series.
Steve Kerr
Kerr also added that, without Curry, the team is different. The key to victory lies in stopping the Timberwolves, running, and generating offense from defense.
The game on Saturday was close, with the Timberwolves taking the victory 97-102. Despite a complicated performance, especially in the first three quarters, they managed to react in the last period.
Anthony Edwards led the Timberwolves’ offense with 36 points, while Julius Randle achieved the first triple-double of his playoff career, with 24 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 assists.
For the Warriors, Butler stood out with 33 points, and Jonathan Kuminga contributed 30 points. Draymond Green’s elimination due to fouls in the last quarter affected the team.
The fourth game of the series will be played in San Francisco on Monday.
