Jasson Domínguez, out of action due to shoulder injury

Dominican outfielder Jasson Domínguez suffered a left shoulder injury and will be out for several weeks, after a collision with the left field wall during Thursday’s game between the New York Yankees and the Texas Rangers at Yankee Stadium.

The incident occurred on the first play of the game, when Domínguez tried to catch a hit by Brandon Nimmo. After the catch, the Dominican hit the metal fence.

The player was attended to by the medical staff and left the field on a cart, receiving an ovation.

Domínguez was evaluated by Dr. Chris Ahmad and entered concussion protocol. Although a concussion was ruled out, the club confirmed a low-grade acromioclavicular sprain in the left shoulder.

The manager Aaron Boone indicated that the player will be out for “a few weeks” while he completes the recovery process.

Before the injury, Boone had praised Domínguez’s defensive evolution.

After the injury, Amed Rosario moved from the infield to right field, and Cody Bellinger shifted to left field to reorganize New York’s defense.

The Yankees are preparing to promote prospect Spencer Jones from Triple-A. The outfielder has 11 home runs, 41 RBIs, and an OPS of .958 in 33 games this season in the minor leagues.

Jones’ arrival is a response to Domínguez’s absence and the physical problems of other players.
