Cibao FC and Pantoja compete for a place in the LDF final
This Sunday, Cibao FC and Club Atlético Pantoja will face each other in an exciting match to define the finalist of the Dominican Republic Football League (LDF). The second leg of the semi-finals will take place at 6:00 pm at the stadium of the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra, in a tournament dedicated to the memory of doctor José Rafael Abinader.
The winner of this series will face the winner of the match between Salcedo FC and Delfines del Este, who will play on Saturday to define their pass to the final.
Cibao FC arrives with an advantage after winning 0-1 in the first leg, played at Pantoja’s field. The team led by Junior Scheldeur has achieved victories in its last two visits to the Panamericano stadium, where Pantoja used to be unbeatable.
The current champions will advance to the final with a win or a draw. If Pantoja wins by one goal, the series will be decided in extra time and, if the tie persists, in penalties.
Cibao FC seeks its eighth final in the LDF, while Pantoja aspires to its fifth.
In the Cibao FC arc, Miguel Lloyd and Edwin “Gato” Frías are the options, while Pantoja has Alessandro Baroni.
The top scorer for Cibao FC is Rivaldo Correa, with 11 goals this season and 32 in total in the LDF. Ángel Pérez follows with 10 goals. Edwarlyn Reyes will not play due to an accumulation of yellow cards.
By Pantoja, Luka Bertrand leads the offense with 14 goals.
