Miguel Cairo, 52 years old, has an extensive career in professional baseball, after playing 17 seasons in Major Leagues with nine organizations. He currently serves as infield coach for the Baltimore Orioles. In winter baseball, Cairo managed the Navegantes del Magallanes in the 2023-24 season of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League. Rafael Chávez, the new pitching coach, has extensive experience in Major League organizations. He currently works as a pitching coordinator in the minor leagues with the Pittsburgh Pirates. José Javier, the new bench coach, has developed his career in the minor league system of the New York Yankees. In 2025 he received his first opportunity in Major Leagues as first base coach of the Chicago Cubs. With these additions, the Gigantes del Cibao seek to strengthen their technical structure for the upcoming season.We are very excited about the arrival of Miguel, Rafael and José. Gigantes del Cibao: Miguel Cairo to Manage in LIDOM, Bolsters Coaching Staff

San Francisco de Macorís – The Gigantes del Cibao have announced the incorporation of Miguel Cairo as their new manager for the upcoming season of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM).
The organization has also confirmed the integration of Rafael Chávez as pitching coach and José Javier as bench coach, thus completing part of its technical staff.
The announcement was made by the team’s general manager, Jaylon Pimentel, who highlighted the experience and leadership of the new members.
