Ferrari Unveils the SF-26: A New Chapter in Formula 1
The Ferrari team has unveiled its new single-seater, the SF-26, at the Fiorano circuit in Modena. This car represents the hope of returning the Italian team to the top of Formula 1, with Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc at the wheel, facing a season marked by new technical and sporting regulations. The SF-26, the single-seater number 72 of Ferrari in the history of the championship, is the second project developed under the direction of the French engineer Loïc Serra, who joined the team from Mercedes. We dedicated a lot of time to the conception phase to adapt as best as possible to the new regulatory and technical framework. In addition, it was essential that the car’s architecture offered enough room for evolution throughout the season.

Notable Changes in Design and Aesthetics
The SF-26 stands out for the return to glossy paint, after seven seasons with a matte finish. The traditional Ferrari red now looks more intense, accompanied by white details in the cockpit area and blue on the rear wing. The new 2026 regulations introduce significant modifications affecting the overall design of the single-seater, which will be lighter than its predecessors.Innovation in Aerodynamics and Power Unit
The SF-26 chassis abandons the ground effect concept, opting for a different aerodynamic approach, with cleaner lines and a philosophy focused on weight reduction and increased efficiency, in line with Formula 1’s objectives. The power unit has also been redesigned. This is a new hybrid generation, where the electrical system plays a more important role, which has required a closer integration between the chassis and the engine.Pilots’ Statements
Charles Leclerc, who is facing his eighth season with Ferrari, emphasized the need for thorough preparation due to the new 2026 rules. Energy management and the behavior of the power unit will be crucial, demanding rapid adaptation from the drivers.Lewis Hamilton described the change as the biggest regulatory challenge he has faced in his career, highlighting the importance of the driver’s role in energy management and the development of the single-seater.There are many new systems to understand and optimize. That’s why we’ve been heavily involved from the early stages of development. We know from experience how complex a regulatory change can be, but we will get to the track with the best possible preparation.
