Fedom Announces the Double A National Youth Baseball League (Libeju)

Santo Domingo – The Dominican Baseball Federation (Fedom) has officially launched the first National Double A Youth Baseball League (Libeju), an initiative that promises to revolutionize the development of youth baseball in the country. The league will begin operations on April 22, 2026, with the participation of eight teams. The inaugural act and the first meetings will take place at the IPL Academy facilities, located in El Toro, Santo Domingo Este, the venue selected to kick off the competition.

Tournament Structure

The championship will be divided into two groups of four teams each. The matches will be played in a double-header format on Wednesdays and Fridays, with games scheduled for seven innings at the stadiums designated as the official venues of each franchise.

Opportunity for Emerging Talent

The president of Fedom, Juan Núñez Nepomuceno, explained that the creation of the Double A Juvenile aims to provide continuity to young players who have not yet managed to sign for professional baseball, but who maintain their desire to develop in the sport.

This league will allow athletes to continue accumulating competitive experience while honing their skills, understanding that each player evolves at their own pace.

Furthermore, he highlighted that the new circuit will serve as an evaluation platform for future calls to the different national teams.

Eligibility and Calendar

The Libeju will be made up of players between 16 and 21 years of age. The Federation announced that the official match schedule, as well as the corresponding venues for each team, will be announced in the coming days. With this project, Fedom strengthens its development program and expands opportunities for Dominican youth to continue growing within organized baseball.
